Grounding · Clearing

Rappé is a finely prepared ceremonial tobacco snuff traditionally used in Amazonian and Indigenous ritual contexts for grounding, clearing, and focused presence.

Meditation & SpiritCalm & Stillness

Rappé is a finely prepared ceremonial tobacco snuff traditionally used in Amazonian and Indigenous ritual contexts for grounding, clearing, and focused presence.

Meditation & Spirit

Supports ritual focus, grounding, and intentional clearing when used respectfully.

Calm & Stillness

Can help mark a pause and return attention to the body within a grounded ritual container.

Traditional & Modern Context

A ritual tobacco preparation approached with respect, intention, and care.

Often carried as a ceremonial support for meditation, breathwork, grounding practices, and intentional clearing rather than casual tobacco use.

Rappé belongs to living Indigenous ceremonial lineages; sourcing, context, and respectful use matter.

Considerations

Contains tobacco and nicotine. Avoid during pregnancy, with heart or blood pressure concerns, nicotine sensitivity, or where tobacco use is not appropriate. Use sparingly and respectfully.

How to use

Traditionally administered in very small amounts with a kuripe or tepi applicator.

Suggested Use

A tepi is a longer applicator used by a server to offer Rappé to another person. It should be used slowly, respectfully, and only with clear consent. The receiver should sit upright, breathe through the mouth, and remain still for a few minutes afterwards. Clean after use and keep it dry between ceremonies. Best used by someone experienced with serving Rappé.

Why it belongs in the bazaar

Hand-carved by Kuntanawa artisans at the Tete Pawã studio in the upper Juruá — a place reached only by two-day boat or a four-seater plane — the tepi is how rappé is offered from one person to another. It carries the maker's skill and the distance it travelled to reach you. A ceremonial tool, not a gadget: use it with respect, care, and prayer.
