What is Palo Santo?

Palo Santo is a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America, closely related to Frankincense, Myrrh, and Copal. In Spanish, the name literally means “Holy Wood.” Belonging to the citrus family, its smoke carries sweet, uplifting notes of pine, mint, and lemon.

Traditionally used for centuries, Palo Santo is revered for its spiritually cleansing, healing, and protective properties. The fragrant smoke is both physically purifying—binding to dust particles in the air—and energetically cleansing, leaving you and your space feeling calm, refreshed, and balanced. Studies suggest its antibacterial compounds may even help reduce airborne bacteria when burned.

Directions for Use

  1. Hold the tip of the Palo Santo stick over an open flame until it catches. A candle or lighter works best.

  2. Let it burn for 20–30 seconds before gently blowing out the flame, leaving a glowing coal.

  3. Waft the fragrant smoke around your space, body, or crystals with a clear intention of clearing stagnant energy.

  4. Place the smoking stick in a fireproof dish (metal, glass, or clay). Allow it to extinguish naturally, or blow gently to keep it smouldering.

  5. Each stick can be relit and reused several times, typically lasting 3–5 sessions.
